The Idol Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police Department issued ‘Soulbound Tokens’ to its outstanding team members, a first for an Indian government department.
For this, the Tamil Nadu Police collaborated with GuardianLink, a Chennai and Singapore-based non-fungible token (NFT) startup. K Jayanth Murali IPS, Director General of Police, Idol Wing CID, Tamil Nadu, issued the tokens.
Arjun Reddy, Co-Founder of GuardianLink, stated that the DGP is collaborating with the company to launch a volunteer organization called ‘Friends of Culture’ in collaboration with Idol Wing CID to increase youth participation in heritage preservation while also allowing them to earn Soulbound Tokens as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

While owning an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club is already a status symbol, new opportunities for holders to enjoy exclusive benefits are emerging. One of these is from Timex, the well-known watchmaker.
As previously announced, Timex is releasing a new line of limited edition watches, along with NFTs. These are only available to those with assets from the Bored Ape Yacht Club or Mutant Ape Yacht Club.
Only 500 of these watches will be produced, and they will be based on the design of the owner’s NFT. This was created with the help of several Bored Ape members and the web3 firm Daz3D.
This project is one of many examples of the intellectual property rules of the Bored Ape facilitating a commercial venture. And, as the Timex team has stated, this is an opportunity to bridge the physical and digital worlds.
Vishal Malhotra, known for his roles in films such as ‘Ishq Vishk,’ ‘Jannat,’ ‘Kismat Konnection,’ and ‘Salaam-e-Ishq,’ has made his directorial debut with ‘Ilm,’ which is also the first NFT-funded film.
‘Ilm’ is an Urdu word that means ‘knowledge,’ and the film follows an 11-year-old boy and his grandmother’s relationship. Unfortunately, the boy’s parents are killed in an accident, causing him to shut down. Making portraits of his grandmother is the only thing that makes him happy.
Vishal, who has directed the film for the first time, describes it as “a proud moment for India and Indians,” as the world’s first NFT-funded film comes from India, with the producers being ordinary citizens.
The movie is available on Disney+ Hotstar.
